An update from site: Wellington Close
This site update comes from Wellington Close, our development in New Cross, Lewisham. It will provide 20 apartments and three houses for affordable rent, for Lewisham Homes.
There has been plenty of early activity on site. Given its location in south London, an Unexploded Ordnance Survey is taking place to check underground for potential unexploded bombs from the Second World War.
This is an important aspect of the preliminary stages, and is being conducted by Safe Lane Global.
Groundwork has seen a piling mat created across the site, for reinforcement ahead of piling.
The site was also visited by an inspector from the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and our congratulations go to Project Manager Karim Najm, and the rest of the team at Wellington Road, for a Performance Beyond Compliance grading.
In particular, the site was noted for “excellent” community engagement, with strong face-to-face contact with neighbours, “Wholly due to Karim’s positive attitude to the works and those around it.” Safety was also “excellent”, and environmental performance “very good.”
Congratulations to Karim and the team. For more information on the development, visit our project page here.
